We’re having a cartoon character costume party and the missus and I need ideas for a couple to go as. They don’t need to be husband and wife type characters, just 2 that go together well. Any ideas? We’d like to make them rather than buy them but don’t mind buying them if a good enough suggestion is put forward. They have to be not too impossible to make though. I’ve never been on Blue Peter.

Professor of International Health Hans Rosling at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm crushes the misconception that there are two kinds of countries rich and poor.

We are getting married in two months and was wondering if anyone has any personal stories or ideas they could share with us. I have two daughters from a previous marriage 8 and 5 1/2 and we have a son together 4. Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance!
We do intend on my older daughter being a junior bridesmaid, my younger daughter as a flower girl and our son as the ring bearer. But we are looking for something special to include them into the ceremony. Some kind of symbol that things are going to be diffrent now that we have taken vows. We were thinking of promises to the girls or maybe each of us picking up a single flower and putting it into a vase to make a bunch. This would probably be too abstract for the kids to catch onto but… we are still thinking. We want this to be special for them too.
I don’t remember the poem that was said, but I went to a blended family wedding. Each person in the family had a vial of colored sand, each color was different. In the ceremony, the reverend read a poem about togetherness while the family members took turns pouring their sand into a bottle. At the end, there were five stripes of sand in the same bottle, to illustrate how they would all be together even though they came from different places. I like this idea because it also gives you a very nice keepsake to remember your ceremony.

How to make a dinosaur birthday cake
Assembling the dinosaur cake
1. On the first cake layer, cut a slice off of one side. Then in the middle of the flat side of the cake layer, cut a U-shaped piece out to create the dinosaurs belly and legs. Place the layer on a serving platter.
2. Using paper templates, cut a head and tail out of the second cake layer (cut the dome off the top first so its flat). Place head and tail on the serving platter, joining the pieces to the dinosaurs body. Glue the cake to the platter by placing some frosting underneath each piece of cake. Crumb coat the entire cake with a thin layer of green frosting.
3. Freeze the cake for 30 minutes.
Decorate the dinosaur cake
1. Frost the entire cake with another layer of green frosting. Smooth frosting on sides of cake using an offset spatula. Smooth the top of the cake, working from the outside to the middle. Have hot water on hand to clean the spatula as you are smoothing frosting. Dry spatula each time you clean it before continuing to frost the cake.
2. Place flat chocolate disks on the cake to make spots on the dinosaur.
3. Use smaller chocolate candies for eyes and toes.
4. Use pointy candies across the top to create spikes along the dinosaurs head, back and tail.
5. Using white frosting in a pastry bag, make white dots in the center of each chocolate eye.
6. Using white frosting in a pastry bag, draw on a smile. Or, for a scary dino, make teeth by holding the pastry bag in place, squeezing to form a dot and then pulling up to create a point.

I’m getting tired of my bedroom that I decorated in first grade and I need ideas on how to redecorate my room when on a low budget. I’m definitely going to paint my walls, and I despise my purple carpet, though I don’t have enough money to get it lifted up and then sanding&etc the hardwood below it. Any ideas or examples of bedrooms that I could get ideas from would help…I’m kind of looking for a beachy theme, but I’m not very picky =) Thanks! -Jackie
