  • How can I become a Disney Channel actor?

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under disney channel | 5 Comments »

So I want to know how i can audition for an actual tv show on Disney Channel. I live for acting! And I want the real thing to. I don’t want the fake auditions. THX!

I’m an LA Actor giving you the REAL DEAL!

You NEED an agent to get auditions for Disney Channel. Sites and people promising Disney Channel Auditions are SCAMS!

Here’s the cliffsnotes version of what you can do to do to get into acting and eventually get an agent:

    1.EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST!

READ (check Samuel French, libraries, and bookstores):

    *=Highly recommend

    *Audition-Michael Shurtleff
*The 15 Guideline Map to Booking-Amy Lyndon

    2.GET TRAINING!

Regardless of how "naturally talented" you might be, you NEED training, PERIOD!

    Definitely take classes in:
    -Cold Reading/Auditioning
    -Improv
    -Scene study
    -Commercials

    3. Get GREAT headshots

Here’s is a good place to start:

    4. Build Your Resume and Reel Doing Student films and Indie Films. Also do plays to build your acting experience.

The ONLY LEGIT Online sites that you can find jobs on your own through:
ALL SITES NOT LISTED BELOW ARE QUESTIONABLE!

    -ActorsAccess.com
    -LACasting.com
    -Nowcasting.com
    -NYCasting.com
    -NYCastings.com
    -Backstage.com

    Free but proceed with caution:
    -Castingcallsearch.com
    -Mandy.com
    -Craigslist

    5. Get an Agent

    Look up LEGIT agencies here:

    http://www.agentassociation.com/

    http://www.sag.org/content/find-agent

To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.

You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:
-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.
-Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc.
-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in

    DON’T
-Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!
-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print

Whats the customary tip to be given to your hair stylist? ?

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under discount hair cut | 1 Comment »

At one of the more high-end hair salons like Regis or Mario Tricoci, when the total bill comes to about $50.00 for a women’s cut and style. What would you give your stylist as a tip? I usually give around $10.00 because that’s what my mom would always give.

Also, i know that the stylists at these salons generally make their own price. The master stylists charge more due to their expertise. Is it ok to ask for a discount if i do not want them to wash my hair? My hair is very long. To my rear. I always wash it before i go in for a trim due to the fact that they can not wash my hair in those little sinks without it getting very tangled. I end up loosing handfuls of hair if i allow them to wash it.

Usually a cut and style has a wash included in the price…so yes, ask for a discounted price! $10 is a great tip on a $50 bill. That’s what I tip for my stylist but more if she spends some time with me telling me how to do a certain style.

What are good finger foods for a 16 month old who only has 6 front teeth?

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under finger foods | 16 Comments »

My daughter only has 6 teeth, 2 bottom and 4 top. She sometimes has a hard time chewing. What are some good finger snack foods for this? Open to any eating tips.

By the time my kids were 1, they were eating everything that my husband and I were eating, just cut up smaller. Lack of teeth isn’t a big deal. In fact, some kids don’t have ANY teeth until they’re more than a year old, and it doesn’t get in the way of them eating at all. Those gums are just fine at mashing stuff up.

Also, the more tastes you introduce them to early, the less picky they’ll be later. And there’s nothing more unpleasant than sharing a meal with a kid who won’t eat anything except, say, chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese and ranch dressing. (We know one of those…)

    Ripe pears, mangos, avocados, bananas.
    Grated apples. Cut strawberries.
    Butternut or acorn squash, diced.
    All kinds of pastas.
    All kinds of crackers.
    Cheerios or Kix
    Vanilla wafers or Fig Newtons
String cheese, or slices or cubes of regular cheese.
Any vegetables, cooked well and cut up.
Beans, any kind, but mine liked chickpeas a lot
It sounds gross, but you can buy cooked, canned chicken. It comes in a can just like tuna. The nice thing about it is that it’s softer and juicier than most meats you might be fixing for yourself.
Fish. My kids loved tilapia and the occasional piece of salmon. Or fish sticks.
    French fries, tater tots, etc.

Seriously, it’s a good idea to try out lots of stuff. My kids love fried rice, curry, enchiladas…spicy stuff, sweet and sour stuff…it’s nice, because we can take them anywhere and not worry about whether or not there will be something they can eat.

Any ideas of characters for a couple to go as to a cartoon character costume party?

Posted by admin on July 14th, 2010 and filed under ideas | 6 Comments »

We’re having a cartoon character costume party and the missus and I need ideas for a couple to go as. They don’t need to be husband and wife type characters, just 2 that go together well. Any ideas? We’d like to make them rather than buy them but don’t mind buying them if a good enough suggestion is put forward. They have to be not too impossible to make though. I’ve never been on Blue Peter.

    Minnie and Mickey mouse
    Peter and Tinkerbell
    Spongebob and Sandy
    Kermit and miss piggy
    Belle and the Beast
